Our Culture
At Engineering Good (EG), we are a community of tenacious problem-solvers. We see barriers as engineering challenges waiting for a creative fix. We move fast to narrow the digital divide, driven by the belief that technology should empower everyone, regardless of background.
But don’t let the casual vibes fool you; we take our mission and our stewardship of public trust very seriously. We’re looking for people who want to "do good and be better" every single day.
Mission First, Always
Our "North Star" is the well-being of our beneficiaries. Whether we are refurbishing a laptop or prototyping a new assistive tool, every action we take is indexed on the meaningful impact it creates for the community.
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
We practice "Humility and Collaboration." We take pride in our work, but we know we’re building on the efforts of the volunteers and staff who came before us.
We stand on the shoulders of giants to build "better-er" things for the future.
Must Love Tech (and the Office Cat)
You don’t have to be a cat person to work here, but you should know that our resident feline is essentially the Chief Wellbeing Officer.
If you’re allergic to cats or puns, consider yourself warned.
Empathy is Our Default Setting
We work with diverse groups, from students to seniors to persons with disabilities. We value "diversity and empathy" because understanding someone else's lived experience is the first step to building a solution that actually works.
Kaypoh for Good
We are naturally curious (or as we say in Singapore, a bit kaypoh). We’re forward-leaning because we want to get things done effectively.
We don't tiptoe around problems; we dive into them to find the most sustainable way forward.
Open Hearts and Honest Talk
We encourage open-mindedness and respectful discussions. You can debate tech, politics, or the best way to solder a circuit, as long as you treat everyone with dignity.
We’re a "no surprises" kind of team; we share feedback candidly because that’s how we grow.
(Note: We are inclusive of all coffee choices, even if your 3-in-1 Indocafe habit makes our resident coffee snobs weep.)
Ownership and Excellence
We give you the platform and the resources to make a difference. We value initiative and a "bias for action." If you see a gap, we want you to take ownership, propose a plan, and lead the way.
